Director's Special, Imperial 32YO

42.7% ABV

Only 125 bottles were produced from a single sherry butt of Single Malt Scotch Whisky, which was aged for 32 years. In many ways this is a classic Imperial, balancing all the delicate flavours common to this majestic make. It has incredible depth, with a richness in mouth feel and flavours that hint at the herbal and spice. There are few whiskies that manage to be both intrinsically elegant while also full of character.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Notes of buttered sweet popcorn, freshly cooked waft out of the glass. With time a richness develops giving the impression of fresh apple and rhubarb crumble with piping hot custard. A hint of cinnamon and nutmeg spice creates yet more layers.

Taste: A wonderfully creamy texture with flavours of rhubarb and custards boiled sweets. The sweet notes are offset against a fresh citrus that builds to become a lively lemon sherbet. Orange blossom and eucalyptus balanced out the sweetness, combining with hints of stem ginger. The texture is similar to a delicate honey syrup creating a really mouth coating yet gentle feel.

Finish: The touch of chilli spice creates longevity and continues to meld and balance against flavours of dry mint and honey suckle. The finish is gentle, pleasing and long.

celebrating both the classic characteristics of the distillery and the subtle changes created by time and oak.
